The current Intermediate school was built in 1969 and would require substantial renovations.

The long-range facility planning committee recommended the district build a new elementary, eliminate the current model of having an intermediate campus and instead, have two kindergarten through grade five elementary campuses.

The current Intermediate school could then be used as a district facility in the future.

The change in grade configurations to a K-5 system creates vertical alignment and offers teachers the opportunity to collaborate and focus on instruction.

  • Due to this small number of students, our PreK program may only be offered on one campus, for all families in BISD, pending future PreK enrollment.
  • Designated school attendance zones enable the District to make the best use of faculty, staff, and facilities.
  • District leadership and professional demographers would draft possible attendance zone boundaries.
  • Parents and community members would be asked to review and give input regarding the proposed zones at an attendance zone  meeting prior to final decisions being made.

The community would be able to nominate and vote on the naming of the new elementary school.
